The year 2020 was the first full year of blogging on our company blog, called the “Lateral Flow Test and Development Blog”. We made it to publish new articles on a regular basis and we received a lot of valuable comments on the published content from our customers and readers. On this occasion we wanted to thank you all who have contributed to the discussions.

We were very keen to find out which publications on the blog were the most frequently read articles in 2020. Here are our top 3:

Bronze Medal – A Product of FAQs

The ranking 3rd article and winner of the bronze medal has been published on April 30th, 2020 with the title “Lateral Flow Readout for CRISPR/Cas-based Detection Strategies”. This article answers the most frequent question transferred to my desk in 2020: What is the T- (Test) and what is the C-(Control) Line on the Milenia HybriDetect strip? This question was easy to answer before the CRISPR/Cas based methods were developed and this became more complex now. Furthermore the article describes how to optimize a CRISPR/Cas based test which is combined with a lateral flow test, including Milenia HybriDetect. This topic kept our entire busy over 2020 and later in the year we made a pdf-file available on our website helping customers with the goal to develop a CRISPR/Cas based assay combined with a lateral flow read out how to optimize this.

Silver Medal –  An Indian Detective in the Middle of a Pandemic

The ranking 2nd article and winner of the silver medal has been published on October 5th, 2020 with the title “Feluda Test – A New Rapid Test Method for the Identification of SARS-CoV-2”. Feluda is an acronym and stands for “FNCas9 Editor Limited Uniform Detection Assay”. At the same time it is the name of a detective in India. Not surprisingly the method has been developed at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s constituent lab, the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) based in New Delhi, India and has been licensed to TATA Group who received government approval to sell the test in October 2020.

Gold Medal – CRISPR / Cas in the Spotlight of Innovative Molecular Diagnostics

The ranking 1st article and winner of the gold medal has been published on October 26th, 2020 with the title “Lateral Flow Test Development for COVID-19 based on Nucleic Acid Detection”. This article summarizes a series of nucleic acid based tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 and due to the severe hit of the Coronavirus crisis to the entire world it was clear from the very beginning that this article is the top candidate for winning the battle for being the 1st in our “most frequently read blog articles in 2020 list”.
